No Pooping

While on a stoll, we came about this funny sign and we wanted to share it.

Haircut

On Saturday we all took a stroll, hopped on the bus and got Jake a haircut. Jake then got to go to the indoor playground, KICO, which is 1/2 playground, 1/2 cafe - a very good idea indeed. Then we went to the "mall" picked up a few things, new book for Jake and some special candy that can only be purchased at a apotheke (pharmacy). We of course finished the day with the biergarten, Lousie, that was celebrating a new "brew". Funny that a new beer will bring about banners and flags, and even a special menu. Enjoy the little things in life - that is truly a european lesson.

Danke!

It's official - Jake says "Danke" when you give him or he gives you something. I found out yesterday that he leared this from the gym daycare. The gym daycare is quite a nice place, they give him a snack, change his diaper (if needed), and is literally a kids paradise.

Animals

The animals are enjoying themselves...we think.

A Lovey for Jake

Jake starts school next week so I made him a little "lovey". It's a tiny corduroy pillow with some felt animals. It should help him feel "secure".

Jake on the drums

Here is Jake playing Dad's drums.

They're Here...

Wild Boars are here! They are digging up the grass just in front of our house and down in the park (where we walk Eugen)

this is the entrance to our apartment - there is wild boar evidence just in front on the grass

Sidewalk Stands

So I have learned that the best veggies and fruit come from these sidewalk stands - they are right - fresh and yummy!!!
This is our modest apartment house - we are on the top floor to the right

These are the gigantic mansions that surround the area that we live in.

Misc Jake Romping

Oh to be a 2 year old and romping around such an old city.

A shopping find: cohiba's and chocolate

Eating a chocolate pop

Some Fancy French Tea

The very best chocolate store, Fassbender & Rausch

Running around Gendarmenmarkt

Driver's License & Aquarium Day

We had to apply to our German driver's license today. We went to city hall, the famous "ich bin ein Berliner" speech by former U.S. Presdient John F. Kennedy. Then we went to the Aquarium.

A "Gut" Shopping Trip

We finally had a good shopping trip - food here you know is an issue for us. I think it's not really the food, but the quality of the refridgeration.

The zoo and the biergarten, pretty much the thing to do on a given day.

Turning European

So after living here a bit - i have started to do things like this:
afternoon espresso with a yummy fancy thing (with one for Jake, of course)
take an afternoon walk and enjoy it
realize the importance of having "sport" in one's life (looking after one's self)

There are of course other things that I have also gotten used to:
Stinking a bit - lack of air conditioning
My feet being dirty - yes one walks in grass, sand, and dirt here
My hair, nails, and skin being very dry - I think it is the water

Picking Up The G Man

Our New Car

So this is our nice new car with a HUGE "mishap" mark. Darn those parking garages.

Shopping and Domaine Dahlem

Jake and I had to go to the post office today - so that means a trip into town where parking is a crap-shoot, so we decided to walk it and then visit the shops. So, we went to the post office, bought candy at the "Apotheke", got some fruit, a tray for serving coffee, a watering can, and our last stop was Domaine Dahlem (a working farm). We had a good day, very relaxing and much needed. We plan to pick the G man up from work today - he needs some extra relaxing too.

The Berlin Zoo

Going to the zoo here in Berlin is much like going to a local playground in the states. I have a yearly pass so we can go when we like. Only 85 Euro for the year - a very good price. Jake loves it.

Dog Lake

Dog Lake - one of our favorite places. Enjoy!
